BABY,THINGS CHANGE

An old woman sat alone on the porch swing

with sadness on her face.Lines of weariness were

etched into her forhead.Wetness of tears shone

on her cheeks.

She gazed upon the empty yard and sighed.

A swingset that once was a place of laughter and

childish voices was now still and silent.Bicycles

were now lying like dead memories. The toybox

was now neat and untouched.

The front porch which had been a gathering

place for the family was now void of love and

company.

What happened to the family who used to

love one another and come together?Who broke

them up?

The woman began to speak in the silence.

"Dear Jesus I miss my family.Lord I don't know

what to do.We used to be so happy;I thought

everyone loved one another.I see I was wrong.

Oh,Lord if only I could know how to make it like

it used to be!Lord my children can't seem to get

along and I know they don't care much for me.

I know that respect for me has never been a big

item with them,but I love them anyway.Jesus,you

know how I love the babies and how I worry about

them.I miss the love and laughter they bring.I guess

I'm a selfish old woman, but Lord I want my family

back.Lord I know the way they are living is against

your will;but Lord please forgive them.Speak to their

hearts and souls;please don't let them die in sin.

And Lord would you please heal my family, bring them

back home again?"

So lost was she in her grief that she was

not aware that her dear husband had sat down

beside her.In reply to his question as to what

was wrong,she replied"things change,baby,things

change".She realizes that the changes have hurt

him in many ways too and wonders how much

more his heart can take. She has seen him with

draw from their son because he can't take any

more hurt.He too looks around and says "yes

baby things change".

She lifts her face toward heaven and once

again she pleads"please Lord heal our family

before it is too late".
